let it snow - part 2!

we were so excited last week about the snow! we had a couple of inches - which is a lot for seattle. & it even stuck around for a day or two - which is really rare. at the time we had no idea what we were in for...

we have had several days/nights of snow this week. it just kept adding up. given seattle is more of a rain town then a snow town - the city basically shut down. rock salt is apparently bad for salmon & despite the fact that plows were doing their best - the roads were a mess! people were opting to cross country ski to the grocery instead of drive

it was nice to see regular life stop for just a bit - people walking places, kids making snowmen, people sledding down streets. it helps that i am on matenity leave & pat can walk to work - so we were not effected much by the hassle and could enjoy the snow!

look at all that snow!

murph is a true snowdog! he is a funny beast - he hates the rain and is scared of wind but would sit on the doormat & watch it snow for hours.

above I mentioned "children" making snowmen - well, new moms got into it as well. I enjoyed making a snowmo & snowewan while pat & ewan watched from the window - what can I say murph is not the only one who likes the white stuff.

on christmas eve a snowpat joined the others to welcome the vollkommer's to snowy seattle.

with the roads so crummy, it was nice to stay in, snuggle & enjoy the christmas tree.

given the new addition to our family, pat & i will probably not be doing much skiing/snowboarding this year. over the past two years, our trips to the snowcapped mountains of the pacific northwest have been essential to tolerating the gloomy winters of seattle. so it was very special to us to have the snow come to us this season.
