an autumn tradition

just two years ago, with a belly full of babe, i asked pat if we could go to a pumpkin patch.  we were having unseasonably warm weather in seattle.  given my "fragile" condition, a day hike in the cascades or a paddle on lake washington was out of the question.  therefore, i thought we could enjoy the sun & blue skies at the local pumpkin patch.  pat's interest was less than enthusiastic.  i finally got my trip to a pumpkin patch by guilting him into going for my "birthday".  check out the blog post from that little adventure in suburban bliss.

two years later we are enjoying equally lovely autumn in the pacific northwest.  on a special week day off from work, in celebration of my birthday, we headed to the pumpkin patch.  but this was not ordinary pumpkin patch - ooh ahh - stoney ridge farm is an uber pumpkin patch.  they have two U pick pumpkin patches & apple trees.  there are hay rides & a corn maze.  a petting zoo & a donut shop.

despite, getting bit by a bee (for the 1st time ever - no anaphylaxis ensued) ewan had a wonderful time.  he was especially impressed by the army of wheel barrows available to transport pumpkins & the full size tools used to the adorn the barn walls.  t stoney ridge farm even won pat over - the cafe served amazing apple pie ala mode!!!

happy birthday to me!
