i must admit that nighttime has been rough since our move. E was a catastrophic sleeper until he was 11 months old. & then motivated by pure exhaustion & desperation we decided to let him "cry it out" - that's right groovy ladies of bellingham - "cry it out"! since then he has been a sleeping rock star - he's been flexible, naps like a champ & as long as he had "bippy", we could leave him to his own devices after the completion of our bedtime routine.
well all of that has changed as of late. as pat wrote earlier this week, the nap is GONE! E's ability to go to sleep independently has also left us. his wild imagination coupled with our move has created a needy "skeert" (translation - scared) boy. he requires a parent at his bedside to fall asleep & even in the middle of the night from time to time. all i can say is - argh!
well, with no naps, the side off his crib & E outgrowing his sleep space, the next step was inevitable! i present to you... THE BIG BOY BED!
he looks so small in it! (please don't forget this is a rental. pat would never tolerate the wonky paint job on the wall otherwise).
now, E & all of his friends can fit comfortably. the boy was excited about the bed - but was even more excited about getting "tovers" (aka covers).
one of these days, E's big boy bed will be more than a big boy mattress. but first he has to prove that he knows that pillows are for heads & not toes!

Yikes - no naps...I keep saying my prayers that that day remains far off for us. We went through the sleep drama a few months back (very needy, scared Jane) and after a very long month and many attempts, we resorted back to the "cry it out" again with a lock on the door. Worked immediately. Since then, Jane feels most comfortable sleeping in her tent...we are going with it, as long as the child sleeps! Good luck!
