some might think this is odd to include on a baby blog. but, we have always intended for this blog to serve as a baby book of sorts - for us to jot down milestones and significant events. i think today's inauguration qualifies as that.
i was so thankful to be on maternity leave today so i could sit shamelessly in front of the tv all day as history unfolds. as i held my sweet babe in my arms weeping (me, not the babe) i am so touched not only at the historic inauguration of our first african american present, but also at how filled with hope and excitement people seem. i do not think we experience (or allow ourselves to experience) joy enough in our lives. but today thousands of people on the national mall joined by thousands across the country felt pure joy - i know i did.

I got to see it on TV, as I sat operations Top-3 (making sure things go smooth during squadron flying) while the inauguration had several hours of coverage by airplanes from my squadron. The guys who got to fly said "it was very cool...and quiet."
