headed for the coast

it has been a quiet week on the blog this week.  such silence can only mean one thing - mama is back to work.  it is true.  i have very mixed feelings about the start of my new (real) job  - but this is not going to be one of those emotive posts.  actually this will be our first homage to a place before we visit posts.

after a week of settling into our new routine & trying to get a sense of what "real life" will feel like - we are heading out of town.  goodness knows we don't want to get too settled - the pictures will hang themselves on the walls, right?

this weekend E, pat, murph & i are headed to one of our favorite places.  well i can at least say with confidence that it is one of pat's & my favorite places.  & i have to say the dog loves it.  & once the boy sees the rocks & sand - i think it will make it to his top 5 list of favorite places.

we are headed to kalaloch, washington - on the pacific coast of the olympic peninsula.  the camp sites in kalaloch are divine & it is a short drive to ruby beach - which is simply put - just lovely.

pat & i first went to kalaloch on a surprise weekend trip during my intern year.  if my memory serves me correctly, pat picked me up from an overnight shift in the ED and we drove west.  we spent the night a stone throws from the pacific ocean - it was bliss.
two & a half years later we returned to kalaloch to introduce ewan to not only this amazing place but to camping.  as usual, he was wonderful - sleepless - but wonderful.  he has always loved being outside.

& not to worry, murph was there too.

so tomorrow, with ferry reservations for 7AM, we head to kalaloch once again.  a new but familiar adventure for our little family.  it is hard to say whether the weather will cooperate or the boy, for that matter - but if nothing else, we will have the ocean, the rocks & each other.

above E is trying out the gear as pat packs the car for our trip.  and for those loyal followers - this was today's pic of the day - apparently i do not have to work 90 hour a week for pat to lovingly send me photo updates during my work day.
