despite the gray skies - we pressed on to ruby beach. and as i had anticipated, we all had an amazing time. there was sand & rocks & water for the ol' dog to romp in (i had initially typed pup - but i think ol' dog is more appropriate given his sleepy, slow moving steps the day after).

but despite our desire for the contrary the weather became worse & worse - with increasing wind & rain. & although the boys were able to find short term refuge in this house of beach logs - we decided that the idea of a night of camping in the wet with a wet toddler & a wet dog sounded like no fun - i know, we are wimps!!!
but we had such an amazing afternoon that we could help but smile as we packed up to head home.
note, however, i am not posting any pics of smiling faces after we returned home SIX hours later!
the wonderful part of living the pacific northwest is that we can try again in the spring.
