let's eat!

ewan has been showing increasing interest in the goings-on at the dinner table these days. he seems particularly interested in what mo & pat are putting in their mouths - intently looking at our plates, following our forks to our mouths, and even occasionally mimicking our chews. so in honor of the big guy's 5 month birthday - we decided to start our foray into the solid food realm. a little rice cereal mixed with mama's milk was first on tap - what could be more appealing.

well, despite ewan's love of milk - it must be said he was & still is a bit suspicious of solid foods. he was intrigued by the spoon & opened wide, but was unwilling to close his mouth around it, and once his gruel - i mean rice cereal - was painted on his tongue he preferred "see food" to eating food.

although ewan was underwhelmed by the rice cereal - he did think the bib was really neat!. so, even though he has been enjoying putting EVERYTHING in his mouth lately - toys, fingers, feet, now bibs - it looks like he will remain a liquid diet kind of guy for now. we will keep trying though!

in other dinner related news, we decided it was time to give ewan a try in his high chair. as i alluded to above, he loves to be in the action at dinner. he often gets perturbed if he is left in his bouncy chair and therefore often spends mealtime on one of our laps.

well... not any more.

check out ewan on his first try in his fancy new chair. now he pulls right up to the table big boy style. doesn't he look proud!
